PM to inaugurate and lay foundation stone of Multiple Railway Projects on 6th January:

• In a key move to further boost connectivity in the region, PM to inaugurate New Jammu Railway Division
• PM to also inaugurate Charlapalli New Terminal Station in Telangana
• PM to lay foundation stone for Rayagada Railway Division Building of East Coast Railway

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of various railway projects on 6th January at 12:30 PM via video conferencing.

In a key move to further boost connectivity in the region, Prime Minister will inaugurate the new Jammu Railway Division. He will also inaugurate the Charlapalli New Terminal Station in Telangana and lay the foundation stone of Rayagada Railway Division Building of East Coast Railway.

Creation of the Jammu Railway Division, with 742.1 KM comprising Pathankot – Jammu – Udhampur – Srinagar – Baramulla, Bhogpur Sirwal – Pathankot, Batala – Pathankot and Pathankot to Joginder Nagar sections, will significantly benefit Jammu and Kashmir and surrounding regions, fulfilling the long pending aspiration of the people and improving connectivity to other parts of India. It will create employment opportunities, infrastructure development, promote tourism and lead to overall socio-economic development of the region.

Charlapalli New Terminal Station in the Medchal-Malkajgiri District of Telangana has been developed as a new coaching terminal along with provision of second entry with a cost of around Rs 413 crore. This environment friendly terminal, having good passenger amenities, will ease congestion on the existing coaching terminals in the city like Secunderabad, Hyderabad and Kacheguda.

Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for Rayagada Railway Division Building of East Coast Railway. It will improve connectivity in Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and nearby areas and lead to overall socio-economic development of the region.

Foundation Stone Laying of Rayagada Railway Division

The foundation stone for the Rayagada Railway Division Building will be laid on 6th January 2025 in a significant ceremony to be held in Rayagada, Odisha. The ceremony will be graced by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India through video conferencing from Jammu.

This project, valued at Rs. 107 Crores, aims to enhance the railway infrastructure and bring numerous benefits to the region. The Rayagada Railway Division Building will include a variety of key components to ensure efficient and sustainable train operations, including the headquarters of the division in Rayagada, a modern DRM office Building and a Divisional Control Office to manage Railway Operations.

Key features of the Rayagada Railway Division Project include:

Headquarters in Rayagada: The divisional office will be located in Rayagada to oversee railway operations.

Modern DRM Office Building: A G+2 structure with a total plinth area of 12,000 sqm.

Divisional Control Office: To manage and monitor daily railway operations.

Residences for Officers and Staff: Accommodation facilities for the division’s personnel.

Improved Transport Links: Development of roads to ensure smoother connectivity.

Sustainability: The project will incorporate rainwater harvesting systems to promote environmental responsibility.

The establishment of the Rayagada Railway Division will boost regional economic development, especially in the tribal belt of South Odisha. By improving connectivity and transport links, it will foster closer relationships with passengers and local industries. The project will also generate significant employment opportunities in the region.

The foundation stone laying ceremony in Rayagada will be attended by distinguished leaders, including Hon’ble Governor of Odisha, Dr. Kambhampati Hari Babu, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, Hon’ble Minister of State for Railways & Food Processing Industries, Government of India, Shri Ravneet Singh.

The Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, during the ceremony, will also inaugurate the New Jammu Railway Division and the Charlapalli New Terminal Station. Hon’ble Minister of Railways, I&B and Electronics & Information Technology, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, will be present in Jammu to oversee the event.

This landmark development is poised to be a cornerstone for the future of transportation in southern Odisha, ensuring that the region enjoys efficient railway services and economic growth for years to come.
