Prajwal Revanna, the grandson of former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, has been ousted from the Janata Dal (Secular) following allegations of involvement in a sex tape scandal in Karnataka.
GT Deve Gowda, the president of the JD(S) core committee, announced the decision, stating, “We view the initiation of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) against Prajwal Revanna favorably. Consequently, we have decided to propose his suspension from the party until the SIT completes its investigation.”
Former Karnataka Chief Minister and JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy echoed this sentiment, affirming, “His suspension will remain in effect until the investigation concludes.”
Video clips purportedly depicting Prajwal Revanna engaging in intimate activities with multiple women, including government employees, surfaced in the Hassan district. In response, the Karnataka government commissioned a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to conduct a thorough inquiry into the matter.
Prajwal Revanna, who is 33 years old, is the grandson of JD(S) chief and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda. The JD(S) is part of the NDA coalition in the state, and Prajwal is the NDA candidate for the Hassan Lok Sabha constituency.
Earlier today, HD Kumaraswamy alleged that Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar orchestrated the controversy surrounding Prajwal Revanna’s sex tape. Kumaraswamy suggested that Shivakumar should be dismissed from his position.
Responding to these allegations, Kumaraswamy stated, “What evidence supports these claims? Is Prajwal clearly identifiable in the videos? Nevertheless, we will take action based on moral principles.”
These remarks from Kumaraswamy came shortly after Union Home Minister Amit Shah voiced support for an investigation into the matter.
Shah emphasized the seriousness of the situation, stating, “This issue demands immediate attention. We cannot afford to overlook it. We urge the Congress party, despite being in power, to explain why no action has been taken thus far.”
The unfolding scandal has sparked widespread debate and scrutiny, casting a shadow over the political landscape of Karnataka and raising questions about ethical conduct in public office. As investigations proceed, the public awaits further developments and anticipates accountability for those involved.
