Israeli tanks push into Gaza’s Rafah, as battles rage in the north.

Mootv Odisha : According to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), approximately 300,000 Palestinians have fled the city of Rafah in Gaza in response to the Israeli military’s evacuation orders. This mass displacement comes as Israeli officials express their intention to carry out a full-scale ground invasion of the city. Many of the displaced Palestinians were already forced to leave their homes and neighborhoods due to previous Israeli bombardments.

The Biden administration has assessed that Israel has amassed enough troops on the edge of Rafah to proceed with a full-scale incursion in the coming days. However, senior US officials are uncertain if Israel has made a final decision to carry out such a move in defiance of President Joe Biden.

Israeli forces have been accused of striking known locations of aid workers in Gaza, despite agencies providing coordinates to ensure their protection. Human Rights Watch has criticized these attacks, stating that they reveal flaws in the deconfliction system.

Israeli strikes in the Nuseirat camp in central Gaza have resulted in the deaths of at least 40 Palestinians. The strikes targeted a four-story home belonging to the Karaja family, which was sheltering around 100 people, as well as a school run by the UN’s agency for Palestine refugees.

According to the Ministry of Health in Gaza, Israeli attacks have killed at least 35,173 Palestinians and injured another 79,061 people since October 7. In the past 24 hours alone, at least 82 people were killed and 243 wounded. It is important to note that these figures cannot be independently verified by CNN.

Negotiations for a ceasefire in Gaza and a hostage release deal have reached an impasse. Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani warned that the parties involved have differing priorities, with one party wanting to end the war before discussing the hostages and another party wanting to prioritize the hostages while continuing the war.
