In a momentous declaration, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the third consecutive victory of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the Lok Sabha election as a resounding “victory of the people.” As the country eagerly awaited the final vote count, PM Modi expressed his gratitude to the electorate for their unwavering support.

However, when compared to the ambitious targets set by PM Modi, the NDA’s performance fell short of expectations. By 9 pm, the alliance had secured 292 seats, a mere 20 seats above the majority mark of 272. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alone had secured over 240 seats, which was significantly below the desired figure of 370. This decline in numbers was accompanied by a surge in the Opposition’s performance, with the Congress party projecting an impressive increase from 52 seats in 2019 to an expected 100 seats in this election.

The BJP’s diminished seat count necessitates the need to forge alliances, a departure from their independent rule since 2019. Notably, after winning 303 seats in the previous election, the BJP had allocated limited cabinet berths to their allies, causing dissatisfaction among them. In light of this, PM Modi expressed his appreciation not only to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who had previously been at odds with the BJP, but also to Andhra Pradesh ally Chandrababu Naidu, who had displayed a lack of steadfastness in their partnership. Together, the addition of their 28 seats proves vital in maintaining the NDA’s majority.

PM Modi assured the people of the four states that recently held assembly polls that the central government would leave no stone unturned in fostering their development. He specifically commended Nitish Kumar’s leadership, acknowledging the NDA’s successful performance in Bihar under his guidance.

While acknowledging the challenges faced, PM Modi urged BJP workers to remain focused on the positives. He emphasized that securing a third consecutive victory as Prime Minister was an achievement that had not been replicated since the days of Jawaharlal Nehru, highlighting the significance of this accomplishment.

Furthermore, the BJP celebrated the acquisition of additional states in its political portfolio, including Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, where they secured victory alongside Chandrababu Naidu. Additionally, the party successfully retained Arunachal Pradesh while making significant gains in Telangana and dominating much of the Hindi heartland.

Overall, the NDA’s triumph in the Lok Sabha election, despite falling short of its desired targets, is a testament to the power of the people’s faith in the ruling alliance. As the nation looks to the future, PM Modi promises unwavering dedication to the development and progress of the states that recently held assembly polls.
