An incident involving smoke detection from an Empty locked 3rd AC coach on way to maintenance occurred at Visakhapatnam Station today [04.08.2024].
The coach had arrived at Visakhapatnam Station at 06:30am. Just before leaving from Station at 0940hrs for maintenance depot, smoke was noticed by alert RPF staff and Catering Stall Manager.
AP Fire Brigade was ordered along with reinforcements from Railway station staff & RPF. Fire Brigade arrived at 1010hrs and fire was completely doused within an hour.
All trains have left Visakhapatnam on time and train operations were not affected.
The coach was taken to Maintenance Depot for investigation and rectification. All trains are running on scheduled timings. Inquiry has been ordered into the incident.
