The 78th Independence Day of India was celebrated at Buxi Jagabandhu English Medium School, Bhubaneswar with much grandeur and spirit of patriotism. The administrators, the students, the staff members, the members of Lions Club and other distinguished invitees paid rich tribute to the nation and the freedom fighters of the country with immense gratitude.
The celebration started with the hoisting of the Tri Colour National Flag by the Chief Guest, Sri Raghunath Mishra, IAS (Retd.) and Chairman of the school. The hoisting
was followed by the National Anthem presented by the school choir. The Chief Guest, Sri Mishra, through a stirring speech, reminded the students that the freedom
movement was spearheaded by thousands of countrymen who shed their blood and dedicated their lives to the nation. From Gandhiji to Netaji to Bhagat Singh all the
freedom fighters laid their lives to give us the freedom of peace, joy and rights that we enjoy today. He urged the students to show respect to the diverse socio-cultural fabrics of India.


The Principal, Ms Sandhya Jena, greeted the gathering with an inspiring welcome speech. She highlighted that such a remarkable day is celebrated to honour and
respect all the national heroes who sacrificed a lot and fought for India’s freedom. She advised the students to feel proud and joy of being Indians and to work hard for their bright future. Lion Bipin Kumar Mishra, the Chairman Lions Club, BBSR
encouraged the students to contribute their service to the nation in some means.

The student speakers moved everyone’s heart with their deeply enriching and patriotic speeches. The programme also featured array of mesmerizing cultural performances which
evoked strong patriotic sentiments among the audience. Prizes were distributed to the achievers in various fields whereas some students were felicitated by the Chief Guest for their outstanding performances. Members of BJ Education Society, School Managing Committee and Lions club, Vice Principal Mrs. Pallabi Mohapatra, Admin Supervisors, Mr. Barada Prasad Paikaray, Mrs. Smita Mohanty, Supervisor Mrs.
Sucharita Das, students, the staff members, the parents, special invitees were present in the celebration. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by the Vice Captain of the school, Miss Sneha Priyadarshini.
