Indian Railways recruited 5 lakh employees during 2014-2024, while during the previous decade (2004-2014), only 4 lakh employees were recruited. This marks a 25% increase in employment provided by Indian Railways compared to the previous decade.
For the first time in the history of Indian Railways, an employment calendar has been published. All vacancy notifications were issued as per the schedule.
ALP (Assistant Loco Pilot) vacancies, as per the calendar plan, were announced for 18,799 posts in February 2024.
The recruitment examination for ALP positions was conducted over five days across the country.
Examinations were held in 29 states, 156 cities, 346 centers, and in three shifts.
The Computer-Based Test (CBT) was conducted under strict supervision. To ensure the authenticity of candidates, Aadhaar-based identification verification was carried out for 92% of the candidates.
A total of 18.4 lakh candidates applied for 18,799 vacancies.
