The newly elected BJP government in Odisha on Thursday transferred IPS officer Ashish Kumar Singh, who was considered close to the BJD leadership, to the Home Department as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD).
One officer after another of the former BJD government coterie group is being removed. IPS Ashish Singh, once a powerful officer of the Naveen government, has been sidelined by the BJP government today. IG Ashish Singh, who is in charge of Chief Minister’s security, has been transferred as Home Department OSD. A notification has been issued by the Home Department. ECI ordered for Ashish Singh’s health check-up during the election. Later, his medical condition was checked at AIIMS, Bhubaneswar. ECI informed Ashish Singh that he is fully fit on the basis of MS Special Medical Board report. The Central BJP has complained to the Chief Election Commissioner accusing Ashish Singh of favoring the ruling party during the election.
Allegations were made against Ashish earlier too. Ashish Singh was removed from the post of Central Range IG on the orders of ECI last April 5. Later he was posted as IG-CM Security. Even in this important position, he was accused of working for the ruling party and making strategies for the BJD election campaign during the elections.
