National Film Award for ‘Daman’, Rushav Shetty Best Actor….

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting announced the 70th National Film Awards on Friday. The National Award is recognized as a major achievement for any filmmaker. This time the award has been announced for those films which have been given a censor certificate by the Film Censor Board between 1st January 2022 and 31st December 2022. Director-actor Rushav Shetty’s film ‘Kantara’ won the hearts of cinema buffs with its mythology-based story in 2022 from the Kannada film industry. Ever since the film was seen, people have been calling it a favorite for the National Award.

Manoj Vajpayee’s Gulmohar won the Best Hindi Film Award. Apart from this, actor Mammootty, one of the legendary actors of Malayalam cinema, was also considered a strong contender in the ‘Best Actor’ category for his two best films. Anand Ekarshi won the Best Screenplay award for the Malayalam film Atyam. The best actress award went to Nitya Menen for Tiruchitrambalam and Mansi Parekh for Kuchcha Express. Sooraj Barjitya won the best director award. Valvi won the Best Marathi Film Award.

Similarly, the Odia film ‘Daman’ has been selected as the best Odia film. The story of the film is based on a true incident that happened in Odisha. It reflects the dutiful story of young doctor Siddharth. Posting of doctor after completion of medical course is done in suburban areas of Malkangiri district. Lack of access to basic facilities, and how the young doctor is performing his duties in this Naxal-infested area and what challenges he has to face. Vishal Maurya and Devi Prasad Lenka directed the story and screenplay. Sponsored by Dipendra Samal. The songs composed by JP Worldsmith and Bapu Goswami have been composed by Gurram Anand and his team. Dipendra Samal is the sponsor of the film. It featured Hollywood’s popular actor Babusan in the lead role.
