However, Hatat sank due to a mechanical fault in the ship while traveling in the middle of the Bay of Bengal and 90 nautical miles south of Sagar Island. By that time it was around 12 o’clock in the night and it was raining heavily in the sea. As the ship sank in the sea, the captain informed the Coast Guard headquarters. After the Indian Coast Guard got the news that the ship was sinking, an aircraft carrier along with the patrol ships Sarang and Amogha reached Saman.

However, 11 sailors were rescued from the sinking ship. They were rescued by the Javanese of the Coast Guard despite the thick darkness, rough seas and heavy rain. This operation went on for a long time. All the 11 sailors who were rescued yesterday (Monday) have been brought to Paradise today (Tuesday). The Coast Guard has said that after their health examination, they will be sent back to their home country.
